Size: statue is approximately 13.5 inches in length and 11.5 inches in height. Total height on stand is about 15 inches. Condition: Excellent condition with good original pigment still remaining. Professionally restored leg. Color fading, abrasions, small chips and/or minor deterioration with possible areas of expert restoration is not unusual in burial pieces of this age. Description: This is a polo player on horse back. The attached Oxford TL test is for the polo player on the left in the first image. During the Tang Dynasty women enjoyed many privileges such as horse riding and playing polo that were previously male only sports. The female polo player and the horse are both beautifully sculpted. This polo player has been thermoluminescence tested by Oxford Authentication dating it to the Tang period. A copy of the TL Certificate appears in the last photo. |
